Painting exhibition on Nithari draws protest

Nithari victims have opposed the attempt of some artists to portray the poignant and tragic killings of their children on canvas and allegedly make lakhs through an exhibition of Nithari paintings in New Delhi.

Relatives of Nithari victims reached the exhibition venue, New Delhi’s Nehru Place, lodged their protest and demanded the exhibition of paintings be wound up. They warned the organisers if the exhibition was not wound up the Nithari protesters would descend in large numbers at the site and hold a huge protest rally.

Seeing the hostile mood of the protesters, the organisers had covered the paintings with sheets to conceal the offending paintings.

Relatives of Nithari victims, including Jhabu Lal, Ashok Kumar, Ram Kishen, Sunil Vishwas, led by a social activist of Sector 31 landed at Angad Bhawan, Nehru Place, in the Capital and met the organisers. Initially taken aback, the organisers had made themselves unavailable, but later had to face the wrath of the visitors. The Nithari protesters alleged the tragedy of their children was being exploited for commercial advantage, thus rubbing salt into their wounds.

The organisers tried to convince the protesters that a part of the funds collected are being diverted to a non- government organization (NGO) which was active in the field of helping needy children. But seeing that Nithari visitors were far from convinced, the organisers covered the canvases with sheets to conceal the view and stopped the exhibition for a short while. Uncertainty and chaos reigned at Angad Bhawan for about two hours.

While leaving, the protesters warned the organisers they would return with their families and a large number of other residents to sit in dharna at the exhibition venue and may even approach a court to stop the exhibition.

An exhibition of paintings, “Gurnika to Nithari,” is in progress at Angad Bhawan of Nehru Place in which 51 artists have displayed their works. The lowest price of the painting is Rs 10,000 while the highest price tag is for Rs 3 lakh for a canvas. The Nithari residents’ grouse is that some people are out to cash on their children’s colossal tragedy.

सीबीआई जांच का फैसला कांग्रेस के दबाव में : सोनिया





नोएडा, वरिष्ठ संवाददाता : कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष सोनिया गांधी ने कहा है कि मुख्यमंत्री मुलायम सिंह ने कंकाल कांड की जांच सीबीआई से कराने का फैसला कांग्रेस द्वारा दबाव बनाए जाने के चलते किया है। प्रदेश में कानून व्यवस्था पूरी तरह चरमरा गई है। श्रीमती गांधी शनिवार को निठारी गांव का दौरा करने के बाद मीडिया से बातचीत कर रही थीं।
कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष ने प्रदेश सरकार द्वारा सीबीआई जांच की संस्तुति की घोषणा करने के लिए अपनी पार्टी की पीठ थपथपाई। उन्होंने कहा कि प्रदेश सरकार पहले सीबीआई जांच कराने के लिए बिलकुल तैयार नहीं थी, लेकिन उनकी पार्टी के कड़े तेवरों को देखते हुए वह झुक गई। निठारी का विलंब से दौरा करने के संबंध में उन्होंने कहा कि घटना के बाद उनकी पार्टी के प्रदेश अध्यक्ष सलमान खुर्शीद तथा गृह राज्य मंत्री श्रीप्रकाश जयसवाल के अलावा प्रमोद तिवारी, राशिद अलवी, रमा पायलट, रजा मुराद यहां का दौरा कर चुके हैं। वह बाहर थीं, दिल्ली पहुंचते ही यहां आ गई हैं। श्रीमती गांधी ने कहा कि निठारी बहुत क्रूर घटना है। इससे पता चलता है कि प्रदेश में कानून व्यवस्था की स्थिति बहुत खराब है। इसके कारण लगातार गरीबों पर अत्याचार हो रहे हैं और प्रदेश सरकार उन पर काबू करने में नाकामयाब रही है। श्रीमती गांधी सुबह करीब नौ बजे निठारी गांव पहुंची और सीधे उनकी गाड़ी डी 5 की ओर मुड़ गई। वहां उन्होंने खूनी कोठी का जायजा लिया और कुछ पीडि़तों से बात की। इसके अलावा उन्होंने उस स्थान का भी जायजा लिया जहां नर कंकाल मिले थे। संवाददाताओं ने बात करने के बाद जैसे ही उनकी गाड़ी वापस जाने लगी, सड़क के किनारे खड़ी महिलाओं ने इंसाफ दिलाओ के नारे लगाने शुरू कर दिए। भीड़ को नारे लगाता देख श्रीमती गांधी गाड़ी से दोबारा उतरीं, उनके गाड़ी से उतरते ही पुलिस वालों ने भीड़ की घेरा बंदी करनी शुरू कर दी। जबकि सोनिया गांधी के साथ चल रहे सुरक्षा कर्मी भी तुरंत चौकस हो गए और उन्होंने सोनिया गांधी के आस-पास किसी को फटकने नहीं दिया। श्रीमती गांधी गाड़ी से उतरने के बाद सीधे नारे लगा रहीं महिलाओं के करीब जा पहुंचीं और उनकी समस्या जानने का प्रयास किया। जिस पर नारे लगा रही महिलाओं ने उनसे न्याय की गुहार लगाई। जिस पर श्रीमती गांधी ने सिर्फ इतना कहा कि उन्हें इंसाफ दिलाया जाएगा। वह वापस मुड़ीं और अपनी गाड़ी मंें सवार होकर लौट गई। श्रीमती गांधी के जाते ही नारे लगा रहीं महिलाओं का आक्रोश फूट पड़ा। बिज्जन नाम की महिला ने रोते चिल्लाते हुए कहा कि वह सोनिया गांधी की चिकनी सूरत देखने नहीं आईं थीं।

निठारी कांड की जांच सीबीआई को सौंपने के उत्तरप्रदेश सरकार के फैसले के बाद भी कांग्रेस मुख्यमंत्री मुलायम सिंह यादव को पूरी तरह निशाने पर रखने की तैयारी में है। इस प्रकरण में मुख्यमंत्री को चौतरफा घेरने की कमान अब खुद कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष सोनिया गांधी ने संभाल ली है। सोनिया का आज निठारी जाना कांग्रेस की लगातार दबाव बनाए रखने की इसी रणनीति का हिस्सा था। निठारी की नरपिचाशी घटना का खुलासा हुए एक सप्ताह से ज्यादा हो गए हैं और अभी तक मुख्यमंत्री मुलायम सिंह वहां नहीं गए हैं। निठारी के पीडि़तों का दुख-दर्द बांटने के लिए मुख्यमंत्री के वहां नहीं जाने को कांग्रेस खासतौर से मुद्दा बना रही है। विशेष रुप से यह देखते हुए कि इस दौरान मुलायम सिंह दिल्ली आए लेकिन यहां से कुछ किलोमीटर दूर नोएडा नहीं गए। कांग्रेस निठारी कांड की संवेदनशीलता से भली-भांति अवगत है। इसलिए मामले को राजनीति से अलग रखते हुए भी मुलायम के खिलाफ मिले इस मौके को छोड़ना नहीं चाहती। सोनिया गांधी का निठारी जाकर सीबीआई जांच को

NOIDA : Relatives of missing and murdered children staged a violent protest outside the house of the prime accused Moninder Singh at Nithari here on Friday, accusing the Central Bureau of Investigation of trying to shield him by framing his domestic help Surinder Koli.

The protesters threw stones at the house and tried to set it ablaze, and burnt effigies of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Congress president Sonia Gandhi and the two accused. They demanded an audience with CBI Director Vijay Shankar and raised slogans against the Centre. They dispersed only after Senior Superintendent of Police Rajiv Sabharwal reached the spot and promised them that he would look into their grievances.

"We were slated to hold a peaceful march carrying banners to protest against the delay in the case and attempts to shield Moninder. But when we reached near his house, we lost our cool and resorted to stone throwing," said Ramkishen Dhamuk, whose three-year-old son Harsh is said to be the youngest victim.

"Both the accused confessed to having killed our children when we met them in December last after their arrest. And now the CBI wants to know whether there is any eyewitness to the crime. It is the poor who lost their children and those being punished are also poor. A blatant attempt is being made to protect Moninder Singh," said Jhabbu Lal, father of another victim.

The victims' families also complained that they were yet to get possession of the residential plots and jobs promised by the Uttar Pradesh Government.
